Abstract:The resistance of lithium- ion cell before and after cycles was affected by the rolling thickness of the cathode electrode. The characteristics of structure and morphology were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), inductive coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICP), and X- ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS). The results showed that the rolling thickness affected contact resistance between active material and collector. Contact resistance increase of the cell was in relationship with cycle number and the battery cathode surface produced obvious cracks. The surface components were the deposition of dissolved Fe cations from the cathode.
